We are a hackerspace in Columbia, Missouri. Our members range in age and background from middle- and high-schoolers to working professionals to a few retirees. Only one or two of us have launched high-altitude balloons before, but we've always wanted to as a group. We hope that, by competing in the challange, we will get the chance to exercise our engineering abilities, do a little bit of science, and maybe take some cool pictures along the way.
We plan to launch 2-3 balloons with seperate payloads over the competition timeline. This should give us the chance to perform all the experiments we're preparing and let us practice our launching and tracking procedures before sending up expensive cameras.
We joined to learn about the environment at the edge of our atmosphere and to help advance near space ballooning.
