GSBC 2019 Announced! April 5-29, 2019.
We are the MIT Space Balloon Team and we were founded in 2014 to help kickoff the first Global Space Balloon Challenge. We are a dedicated team of MIT student engineers who believe that each person can make a difference in their community.
This year our team is raising money for a program that we feel is extremely important to our community: the Young Environmentalist Program run by the Environmental League of Massachusetts. ELM is committed to encouraging, supporting, and training young people dedicated to protecting the environment. Launched in 2009, the Young Environmentalist Program is a reflection of this commitment. The MIT Space Balloon Team feels passionate about supporting and empowering the next generation of environmental advocates and organizers. Our team will send a high altitude balloon to near space, and perform an experiment on the effects of radiation due to the depletion of the ozone layer. We hope that, above all, we can inspire young people to believe that they can make a difference.
We joined the GSBC to represent Boston, to meet other space enthusiasts, and to make a difference in our community.
Team Launch Date: 04/30/2016
