Ballooning for the Scientific Method

Team Description

We are academics(undergraduates, graduates, and professors) working with fifth grade classes to design and conduct scientific experiments using weather balloons!

Plan for launch

5 different launches over the course of 2 months testing various hypotheses. We will be see if scented markers still smell after going into the stratosphere (launched 3/27/2018), what pressure and temperature will cause a soda can to explode (launching 4/20/2018), changes in the charge of batteries exposed to cold temperatures (TBD), and the impact of UV radiation on corn seeds (2 launches TBD).
